Nurturing Nature Wellington Wide

About Us

Greenspaces for Wellington is a non-profit charitable corporation whose volunteer members are residents in the community with a board of directors appointed from its most active members. The funding for projects is raised through membership fees, donations, selective canvassing, project sponsorship, small grants from the Township of Centre Wellington and helpful grants from the Trillium Foundation, which help subsidize greatly both our initial cost and maintenance expenses of trees grown in the sanctuary, as well as our make-and-take, ($5.00 ea.) birdhouse workshops. In addition there are ongoing, butterfly attracting, young, native, self seeding, perennial plant sales, cost recovery, ($2.00 ea.) native tree and berry producing shrub and vine sales ($5.00 ea.)as well, species specific birdhouse sales, ($15.00 ea.) aimed at bringing bluebirds back from near extinction.

Greenspaces for Wellington’s focus is centered on self-help, user-help, and the encouragement of partnerships. Its aim is to clean up any and all untidy and neglected areas, large and small, public or private, including park and river lands. The long-term goal is to recreate a network linking parks and protected areas so natural ecosystems can function undisturbed hand in hand with human activity. The group’s motto is “Nurturing Nature Wellington Wide” with a proactive approach to more humane horticulture practices in a manner which respects and protects the environment.
